Westlake University's School of Science hosted an Open Day on February 10, providing students from two universities with an opportunity to tour Westlake’s impressive Yungu campus and learn more about the school's academic offerings and application process.

Over 60 undergraduate and graduate students from Zhejiang University and the Zhejiang University of Technology participated in the open day. The visiting students said they were highly impressed with the school’s emphasis on high-quality learning, research, and innovation.

The students began their Open Day with a visit to the University's exhibition gallery, which provided them with a comprehensive overview of the university and its mission.

They then arrived at Academic Ring for a walking tour of the School of Science, where they visited the school’s state-of-the-art research facilities and interacted with the school’s faculty members and students about campus life, the academic programs the school offers, and the admissions process.

Assistant Professor Wei ZHU from the Department of Physics gave the students an informative presentation on the school’s academic programs, admissions requirements, and the application process. Additionally, he actively engaged with the students and provided thorough answers to their questions about faculty members, their research work, as well as the research opportunities available to students.

Furthermore, doctoral student Shen Jingyi shared insights into campus life, providing a firsthand account of what it's like to study and conduct research at Westlake University. 

In addition to Assistant Professor Wei Zhu and doctoral student Shen Jingyi, other faculty members also participated in the Open Day, answering questions and providing valuable insights into their respective fields. The visiting students appreciated the opportunity to interact with faculty members and gain a better understanding of the academic culture and research opportunities at Westlake School of Science.

Undergraduate student Zheng Haoze from the Zhejiang University of Technology described the Open Day as "an enriching experience full of learning about Westlake and the School of Science," and said he looked forward to attending more events organized by the school in the future.

Similarly, Zhang Jingwen, a third-year undergraduate student from Zhejiang University, said the Open Day at Westlake University presented a unique opportunity for her to visit the campus, connect with faculty members, and discuss her research interests and future academic pursuits. She praised the international academic atmosphere at Westlake University and was impressed by its world-class research facilities.

“I am definitely going to encourage my classmates to visit Westlake,” she added.
