If you are pursuing a doctoral degree, having strong peer support makes a world of difference in staying focused and keeping your research work going.

That’s why this week's Journey of Science event, hosted by the School of Science, aimed at promoting peer learning and support among young researchers in the Westlake Community.

Han Xianglei and Xu Gaomou, two Ph.D. students from the Department of Chemistry, talked about their research and shared their personal experiences that could offer some lessons to other fellow researchers in navigating their research journeys.

In sharing their experiences, they covered a range of topics, including choosing a research topic, outlining relevant research questions, staying updated on the latest advancements in their research fields, maintaining a fruitful working relationship with their supervisors, and publishing papers in academic journals.

The discussion was attended by doctoral students from the School of Science and the School of Engineering at Westlake University.

The Journey of Science series is one of several student activities hosted by the School of Science to provide students with platforms to exchange their ideas and learn from one another. In the previous Journey of Science series edition, three doctoral students discussed their experiences publishing their research work in the top journal Nature.
